Waltham, Mass. –
Bridget Gleason scored in the 82
nd minute to help Bentley tie Assumption 1-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons dominated the stat sheet with an 18-5 edge in shots and a 10-1 edge in shots on goal, yet found themselves trailing with a little under nine minutes remaining in the game.
Assumption had taken a 1-0 lead in the 22
nd minute on a goal by Haleigh Ward, her ninth goal of the year.
Bentley's tying goal began with
Abi Hennessey playing a ball in midfield to
Maddy LePage on the right wing in Bentley's attacking end.
LePage then lofted a cross to
Jillian Hendriksen on the left edge of the 18-yard box. Hendriksen spotted Gleason open on the edge of the six-yard box. Gleason received the pass, took a touch and fired a shot into the corner of the net for the goal.
That knotted the game at one and neither team was able to score the winner as both teams settled for a point in the NE10 standings.
Bentley's records goes to 4-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the NE10. Their next game is on Oct. 16 at home against Saint Anselm.
