Five Different Goal Scorers Lead Bentley to 5-2 Victory over AIC

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five different players scored as Bentley defeated AIC 5-2 on Friday night in the series opening game between the two teams.

The Falcons started fast for the third straight game, with a goal in the opening 1:25 for the third consecutive contest.

Oskar Bakkevig got Bentley on the board with his sixth goal of the season. He took a pass from Kellan Hjartarson from behind the goal and roofed a shot from the slot to light the lamp.

With 1:04 left in the period Hjartarson was the goal scorer, with his power play tally making it 2-0 for the Falcons. Nick Bochen ripped a shot from the blue line, and Hjartarson tipped the puck in in front of the net for the goal.

Just past the midway point of the 2nd period, defenseman Tanner Main gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead. Ethan Leyh had the puck behind the net and patiently waited for the play to develop. Leyh spotted Main as he drove net front and the senior from Welland, Ontario one-timed the pass for the goal.

With 49 seconds left in the 2nd, Leyh scored Bentley's second power goal of the night to make it 4-0. The goal was Leyh's 4th of the season and was assisted by Bochen and Hjartarson.

AIC got back in it early in the 3rd period with two quick power play goals just 12 seconds apart to cut Bentley's lead to 4-2.

But the Falcons bared down the rest of the way and an empty net goal by Arlo Merritt from the defensive zone with 34 seconds left sealed the 5-2 victory.

Max Beckford made 17 saves to earn the win.
