Men’s Soccer Travels to Adelphi for NE10 Quarterfinal Showdown

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley and Adelphi will square off in the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday night at 7:00 PM on Long Island.

The Falcons are the No. 5 seed and Panthers the No. 4 seed, meaning Adelphi has hosting rights at Motamed Field in Garden City, N.Y.

Bentley ended the regular season with a 7-5-4 overall record and a 4-4-1 mark in the NE10 for 13 points. They finished tied for fifth-place with Southern Connecticut and earned the higher seed over the Owls based on a head-to-head win.

Adelphi went 9-5-3 in the regular season and 4-3-2 in the NE10 for 14 points to take fourth-place.

Johann Fraser led Bentley in points in the regular season with 15 in 16 matches. His seven assists are tied for the second most in the NE10.

Evan Levine led the squad with six goals, which is tied for ninth in the NE10.

Co-captain Chad Meyers was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Nov. 4 after he scored twice in the final five minutes to help Bentley rally for a 2-2 tie against Franklin Pierce. Grad student Cam Hall was named the Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday as well, for the second time this season.

Bentley and Adelphi met in the regular season on Oct. 8 in Garden City and the Panthers won it 3-1. Freshman Logan Veloria scored for the Falcons in the 35th minute.

These programs have just two prior meetings in the postseason. The first was in the 1975 NCAA Tournament. The second, and more recent, was in the 2017 NE10 quarterfinals.

Bentley was the No. 8 seed and upset the No. 1 seeded Panthers 2-1 on their way to reaching the championship game.

The winner on Saturday will meet the top seed Southern New Hampshire on November 13, who received a bye to the semifinals.

The other quarterfinals on Saturday have the No. 2 seed New Haven against the No. 7 seed Saint Michael's, and the No. 3 seed Franklin Pierce against the No. 6 seed Southern Connecticut.
