WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley's 200 medley relay team set a school record on day one of the annual WPI Gompei Invitational.
The team of
Calvin Ye,
Kenneth Ryu, Zach Ellis and
Ethan Rehkopf set the record with a time of 1:32.99, which was good to finish third in the race. They were just over a half second behind first place Bryant and 12 one-hundredths of a second behind second place Springfield.
The 800 free relay team took third as well with a time of 7:04.97. The team consisted of
Ethan Rehkopf swimming lead-off, followed by
Leighton Wielgoszinski,
Andrew Matjucha and
Daniel Ivanchikov swimming the anchor leg.
Earlier in the day, Wielgoszinski was third in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.23.
Rehkopf was fourth in the 50 free and Ryu was fourth in the 200 breaststroke.
The meet uses combined scoring for the men and women and the Falcons ended day one in third place with 1,419 points.
