Hennessey Scores, Assists in 2-0 Win over AIC

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Abi Hennessey scored in the 49th minute and assisted on a goal by Sydney DeRoche in the 84th as the Falcons defeated AIC 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Falcons improved to 3-1-1 overall as they played their final non-conference game of the season.

Hennessey scored off a corner kick in the 49th minute to give the Falcons the lead. The corner was sent in by Ryenne Feeney from the right corner into the penalty area, and Hennessey shook loose from the defense for a header from six yards out for the goal.

Bentley then put the game away in the 84th minute when DeRoche netted her second of the season. Hennessey was involved in the build up, this time with a shot from 25 yards out that was saved by the AIC keeper. The rebound came loose and DeRoche was in the right spot to convert the chance into a goal and a 2-0 lead.

Falcons goalie Claire Ewen, who made a key stop in the 80th minute with the game still 1-0, recorded her fourth shutout of the season and 14th of her career.

Bentley will next host Saint Michael's on Saturday for its Senior Day game at 1:00 PM.
