Bentley Falls in Overtime to Holy Cross, 3-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Holy Cross' Liam McLinskey scored 2:13 into overtime to give the Crusaders a 3-2 victory over Bentley on Friday night.

McLinskey's goal came on the power play. Matthew Kursonis won an offensive zone faceoff and the puck found its way to McLinskey, whose shot from just inside the blue line found the back of the net five seconds into the power play.

The Falcons (12-9-2, 10-6-1) gain a point in the standings with the overtime defeat.

Holy Cross took a 1-0 lead 35 seconds into the game on a goal by Kursonis.

But the Falcons fought back on a goal by Artem Buzoverya at the 12:07 mark of the 2nd period. A shot on goal by defenseman Nick Bochen was blocked but Buzoverya was there on the doorstep to score off the rebound.

Just under five minutes later Nik Armstrong-Kingkade gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead with his sixth goal of the year, on the power play. A shot by Jake Black in the slot was blocked but Armstrong-Kingkade was first to the rebound to put it in the back of the net.

Holy Cross then found the tying goal off the stick of Devin Phillips at 11:51 mark of the third period.

Neither team scored over the remaining eight-plus minutes of regulation and the game went to overtime.

These same two teams will play again on Saturday at 6:00 PM.
