Bentley Drops Series Opener at Princeton, 3-1

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton's Jaxson Ezman scored two goals in the third period to lift the Tigers to a 3-1 win over visiting Bentley on Saturday night in the first meeting between the two programs in more than 18 years.

The Falcons were making their third ever visit to historic Hobey Baker Rink. The first two trips came in January of 2005 and October of 2006.

Bentley fell behind 1-0 on a goal in the first period by Princeton's Jake Manfre at the 11:45 mark and the scored stayed that way into intermission.

The Falcons though found the tying goal at 11:39 of the 2nd period from some sharp passing.

With the puck behind Princeton's net, Ryan Mansfield fed a pass through traffic to Ryan Upson on the edge of the right circle. Upson quickly spun and fed a backdoor pass to Arlo Merritt who stuffed the puck home for his fifth goal of the season.

The score stayed 1-1 until the 9:20 mark of the third period when Ezman scored on a shot from a tough angle to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Ezman scored again a little over five minutes later.

Shots were close to even on the night with Princeton holding a 27-26 edge.

These teams will conclude their series on Sunday at 4:00 PM on ESPN+
