Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DeRoche scores twice, Bentley tops D'Youville 6-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five Falcons found twine, including two goals by Sydney DeRoche, as the Bentley women's soccer team beat D'Youville, 6-0, on Yetten Field Saturday night. It was the most goals scored by Bentley since an 8-0 victory over Concordia (N.Y.) in 2015.

Bentley (4-4-2) got the offense started in the sixth minute. DeRoche broke free down the right sideline, allowing a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper. DeRoche's shot went off the post, but Olivia Matthews came flying in to bury the rebound.

Just over 10 minutes later, DeRoche broke free down the right side again. She received the pass from Kendra Foley, and this time buried her opportunity into the back of the net.

Shortly before halftime, Abi Hennessey received a pass from Rachael Abbott down the middle of the field. Hennessey chipped the D'Youville keeper, placing Bentley's third goal just under the crossbar.

Foley made it a 4-0 game less than a minute into the second half, netting her first goal of the season. DeRoche scored her second goal of the game in the 59th minute.

In the 81st minute, Tilly Fitzgibbons lined up for a free kick from 25 yards out. Her shot from the left side was buried into the upper right corner to make it a 6-0 game.

Bentley's next game is on the road at St. Thomas Aquinas Wednesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
