WALTHAM, Mass. – Four different players scored as Bentley field hockey blanked American International 4-0 on Tuesday night for its ninth win in the last 10 games.
Goalkeeper
Annie Lorenz and the Falcons defense produced its third shutout of the season as the team improved to 9-5 overall and 7-1 NE10.
Freshman
Lilly Cook scored the first goal of the night on a penalty stroke with 3:02 left in the opening quarter to give Bentley a 1-0 lead. The goal was her fifth of the season.
The game stayed 1-0 for the remainder of the first half and into the third quarter, until
Lindsey Jacobs netted her third goal of the year 7:34 into the second half.
The Falcons then broke the game open with two goals in three minutes in the fourth quarter.
Emily Spadorcia scored off her own rebound after her initial shot was saved to make it 3-0 with her third goal of the year.
Three minutes later
Layla Conway notched her seventh goal of the year, off an assist from
Makenzie Dutch, to make it 4-0.
Bentley finished the night outshooting the Yellow Jackets 18-4 overall and 15-2 in shots on goal.
The Falcons will look for their 10
th win of the season on Saturday when they host St. Thomas Aquinas on Senior Day. The game gets underway at 12:00 pm.
