Four falcons reach the end zone to beat Southern Connecticut, 34-21

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four different Falcons reached the end zone as the Bentley football team won for the second consecutive week with a 34-21 victory at Southern Connecticut Saturday afternoon. Bentley's overall record is up to 2-3, but more importantly its Northeast 10 record is 2-1.

The Falcons ran the ball 33 times for the second consecutive game. Against American International last week, Bentley totaled 133 rushing yards in a 41-34 win. This week against Southern Connecticut (1-3, 1-1 NE10), the Falcons amassed a season-high 155 rushing yards.

Telly Edouard led the ground attack with 59 yards on 14 carries. His 23-yard touchdown run with under three minutes left in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Bentley.

Joshua Compoh put Bentley on the board first when he crossed the goal line on a nine-yard carry. The Falcons held the 6-0 lead heading into the second quarter, but Luke Warnock added to it with a one-yard quarterback keeper five seconds into the period. Warnock's touchdown was set up by Isaiah Osgood's 16-yard run that ended up one yard short of the end zone.

Wide receiver Rashon Bradford reached the end zone with a 14-yard rush four minutes into the fourth quarter. His second overall touchdown of the season gave Bentley a 26-14 lead.

The Falcons' lone touchdown that wasn't on the ground came late in the third quarter. Warnock connected with tight end Pat Damon for a 21-yard score that allowed Bentley to reclaim the lead, 20-13. The Falcons had briefly trailed, 14-13, but the deficit lasted less than five minutes.

Damon finished the game with five catches for 50 yards. Isaiah Decias led all players in receiving yards with 72 on six receptions.

For all of Bentley's efforts on the ground, Warnock completed 20 of 27 pass attempts for 188 yards. It was the most efficient outing of the season for the sophomore.

Defensively, Kieran Campbell and Lucas Tremblay both came away with 1.5 sacks.

Bentley hosts Post Saturday, Oct. 11, for a 2 p.m. kickoff in the Think Pink game.
