WALTHAM, Mass. – A back and forth second half saw regionally ranked Adelphi come away with a 2-1 victory over Bentley on Saturday afternoon in Northeast 10 action.
A goal in the 68
th minute by Bentley's
Sydney DeRoche tied the score, but in the 74
th minute Adelphi's Madison Apicella scored the go-ahead goal and the Panthers hung on to win 2-1.
Adelphi's Kayleigh Goodrich gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 3
rd minute with her ninth goal of the season, with a strike from about 22 yards out.
The Falcons though battled back and got the tying goal from DeRoche in the 68
th minute, her third of the season.
After a foul on Adelphi set up a free kick from about 40 yards away,
Rose Frisoli sent the ball into the penalty area that keeper Emily Aridas got her hands on, only for DeRoche to gain the rebound and chip a shot over Aridas for the goal.
Apicella was able to put the Panthers back in front in the 74
th minute, with Goodrich on the primary assist.
Bentley will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they visit Assumption for a 6:00 pm kickoff.
