Falcons Top Mercyhurst 7-2 to Complete Second Straight Series Sweep

ERIE, Pa. – Seven different players scored and freshman goalie Lukas Swedin earned his first NCAA win as Bentley hockey defeated Mercyhurst 7-2 on Saturday to sweep its second straight series.

The Falcons wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as freshman Márton Nemes scored his first NCAA goal just 31 seconds into the game. Two quick passes by Kellan Hjartarson and Stephen Castagna along the boards found Nemes out in front for the finish.

At the 4:05 mark, defenseman and Waltham native Pat Lawn gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead after he snapped off a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle.

Owen Goodbrand capped the explosive first period with his third goal of the weekend with 58 seconds remaining.

In the second period, a power play goal by Castagna made it 4-0 at the 4:04 mark after he tipped-in a shot from Jack Dalton that came from the blue line. The goal was Castagna's fourth of the season.

Arlo Merritt scored on the power play at 10:51 of the second frame to make it 5-1, assisted by Dylan Cook and David Helledy. Bentley's sixth goal of the night came at 13:52 of the second from Jake Black even strength, assisted by Castagna and Michael Mesic.

Cook finished the scoring with 17 seconds left in the game, with Mesic on the assist.
