WALTHAM, Mass. – Three different players scored as Bentley field hockey defeated Pace 3-1 on Saturday to clinch a home game in the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Championship on Tuesday.
Madeline Krepelka,
Mia Gallinelli and
Emily Stagnone were the goal scorers for the Falcons. They finished the regular season at 11-7 overall and 9-3 in the NE10. They will face Southern New Hampshire at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Bentley won the regular season game at home 3-2 on September 30.
After a scoreless first quarter, Krepelka's eighth goal of the season 8:38 into the second quarter gave Bentley the lead. The goal was setup with a penalty corner and saw
Gracie Moore play a ball in that was tipped in front by
Layla Conway and then further redirected by Krepelka for the goal.
In the third quarter
Mia Gallinelli notched her first career goal. A penalty corner by
Lindsey Jacobs got it started and a pass over by
Sheila Mullins to Gallinelli set her up for a shot from a tight angle for the goal.
Just under two minutes later another penalty corner led to Bentley's third goal. Played in by
Nicole Hartz to
Nina Husak who had her shot blocked, the rebound bounced to Stagnone, whose shot from distance was on target for her first career goal.
Goalie
Annie Lorenz made four saves to earn her 10
th win of the season.
