Bentley Remains Unbeaten in Atlantic Hockey with 3-2 Win over RIT

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three different players lit the lamp and freshman goalie Lukas Swedin earned his fourth straight win as Bentley defeated RIT 3-2 on Friday night.

Junior forward Ryan Mansfield, playing his first game this season, scored in the first period to tie the game 1-1.

Defenseman Colton Cameron scored early in the second period and Michael Mesic added a goal in the third.

Swedin made 19 saves to improve to 4-0 on the season.

With Bentley trailing 1-0, Mansfield jumped on a loose puck in the defensive zone and played a pass to himself off the boards to break free down the ice. With only goalie Jakub Krbecek to beat, he ripped a wrist shot to the stick side for the goal at 15:42.

The Falcons then went ahead 2-1 at 2:34 of the second period on Cameron's third goal of the season. Dylan Cook feathered a cross-ice pass to Cameron on the far post for the quick shot before Krbecek could get back in position.

Mesic made it 3-1 at 9:34 of the third frame with his fourth goal of the season. In transition defenseman Jack Dalton found Kellan Hjartarson open on the left for either a pass or a shot, and he chose the pass option to find Mesic in front for a one-timer goal.

RIT would score a late goal with an extra-attacker on to make it 3-2 with 38 seconds remaining but Bentley closed it out improve to 7-4-1.

They remain unbeaten in Atlantic Hockey play at 6-0-1.
