WEST POINT, N.Y. –
Owen Goodbrand and
Ryan Mansfield scored goals late in the third period to lift Bentley to a 3-1 road win over Army West Point on Tuesday night.
Goodbrand scored the go-ahead goal with 4:07 remaining and Mansfield scored an empty-netter with 1:03 left to give the Falcons the 3-1 victory.
They remain undefeated in Atlantic Hockey games at 7-0-1, still the only team in the league without a conference defeat.
Goodbrand scored the go-ahead with a great individual effort. He blocked a shot in Army's offensive zone to start a breakaway down the other end and finished it off with a deke around goalie JJ Cataldo for his sixth goal of the year.
Mansfield then netted an insurance goal on an empty net to make it 3-1. That was his second goal in as many games after returning to the lineup for the first time on Friday against RIT.
Army took a 1-0 lead 3:02 into the second period on a goal by Stephen Willey. But late in the second frame, captain
Stephen Castagna tied it with his fifth goal of the year.
A blocked shot by
Oskar Bakkevig led to Bentley rushing down the other end of the ice.
Michael Mesic had it on the left wing and feathered a pass to Castagna that he fired past Cataldo for the goal.
Falcons netminder
Lukas Swedin made 26 saves to earn his fifth straight win.
Bentley next hosts UNH on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
