Four From Men’s Soccer Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Michael Haikal, Wynn Hammond, Antonio Santos and Zach Spitznagle from the Bentley men's soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.

The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

All four excelled as the Falcons won the Northeast 10 regular season championship and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1975.

Haikal advanced to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

The NE10 Player of the Year, he is majoring in finance. Haikal was also named first team All-Conference and first team All-Region by D2CCA.

Hammond, an economics-finance major, was a starter on one of the top defenses in Division II as the Falcons conceded less than one goal per game and had seven shutouts. He averaged more than 86 minutes per game on the pitch and chipped in on offense with one goal and three assists.

Spitznagle started all 18 games in midfield and was second on the team in minutes played at 1,515. He had one goal and one assist on the season. He is majoring in accounting.

Santos was one of the team's top attacking players with three goals and three assists. He is majoring in business law.
