WALTHAM, Mass. – Chase Clarke and
Cash McClure finished with double-doubles to lead the Bentley men's basketball team to a 79-65 win over Bridgeport Sunday afternoon.
Clarke totaled 17 points and 11 rebounds, while McClure added 13 points and 10 boards. It was the second double-double of the season for Clarke, and the first for McClure. Clarke shot 6-for-6 from the floor, and McClure was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
The battle on the glass was a focal point for the Falcons (3-2). The Purple Knights entered the contest averaging just about 48 rebounds per game. However, Bentley outrebounded Bridgeport, 41-33.
Bridgeport (3-2) held an 11-8 lead through the game's first four minutes, but that was the last time the Purple Knights had the advantage on the scoreboard.
Ivan Misic scored in the paint to bring Bentley to within 11-10, and following a defensive stop, Misic drilled a 3-pointer to put the Falcons ahead, 13-11.
The game was briefly tied, 13-13, when a
Cooper Farrall 3-pointer started an 11-2 run for Bentley. The Falcons' first double-digit lead of the game came at the 9:13 mark in the first half when
Joe Carroll's trey pushed Bentley's advantage to 27-17. The Falcons took a 42-27 lead into halftime.
Bentley's largest lead of the game was 20 points, when Misic hit a couple of free-throws to make it a 47-27 game two minutes into the second half.
Misic scored a season-high 16 points, and Farrall reached double figures in scoring for the fourth consecutive game with 12 points.
The Falcons open their Northeast 10 schedule at Southern New Hampshire Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
