WALTHAM, Mass. –
Sydney DeRoche scored two goals as Bentley women's soccer defeated AIC 2-0 and the Falcons clinched a spot in the NE10 Championship playoffs on the final day of the regular season.
Bentley's win, combined with a loss by Assumption, clinched a spot in the seven team field. They will play on the road in the first round on Sunday against a team to be determined.
DeRoche gave the Falcons an early 1-0 lead in the 9
th minute with a strong finish from a tough angle. After a corner was sent in,
Abi Hennessey won the first ball and DeRoche was waiting in a good position in the penalty area for the volley, which she struck cleanly to beat the AIC keeper from a tough angle on the near post.
In the 58
th minute she made it 2-0 for the Falcons. Hennessey again had the assist after she centered a pass from the left wing to DeRoche in the six-yard box for a finish from close range.
The Falcons outshot AIC 22-10 overall and 12-5 in shots on goal.

Holly DiPalo made five saves for her sixth win of the season.
Bentley finished the regular season at 6-6-4 overall. They will find out their opponent for Sunday's game later tonight.
