Women's basketball hosts New Year's Day game against Daemen

WALTHAM, Mass. – The new calendar year begins with the No. 18 Bentley women's basketball team hosting Daemen Thursday, Jan. 1, at 2 p.m.
 
A streak of six
After beginning the season with a loss against Mercy (Nov. 15), Bentley has won six consecutive games. Each of those wins have been decided by double digits. Overall this season, Bentley's +18.9 scoring margin leads the Northeast 10 and ranks 12th in the nation.
 
Defense does it
Bentley is allowing only 52.1 points per game, which stands as the second-best defensive mark in the NE10. On the flip side, Bentley is averaging 71.0 points per game – third in the NE10.
 
Niya delivers
Niya Morgen is the conference's third-leading scorer, as she enters the new year averaging 15.9 points per game. She is shooting 51.3-percent from the floor this season, which ranks fifth in the NE10. She scored a season-high 25 points in Bentley's conference win over Saint Michael's (Dec. 6).
 
Elie doubles up
Julia Elie notched her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards in Bentley's win over Holy Family (Dec. 21). She is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
Yeomans pours it on
Cassidy Yeomans made a career-high five 3-pointers during Bentley's win over Holy Family (Dec. 21). She missed only two shots from beyond the arc on her way to scoring a season-high 15 points. Yeomans is shooting 37.9-percent from 3-point range this season.
 
Scouting Daemen (9-2, 4-0 ECC)
The Wildcats recently had a seven-game winning streak end with a 63-55 loss against Montana-Billings in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic (Dec. 21). Ne'Vaeh Buntley is the team's leading scorer with 15.4 points per game, and Cecilia Lapertosa closely follows with 14.5 points per game. Lapertosa also averages a team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game. Overall this season, Daemen is shooting 40.8-percent from the floor, and 28.0-percent from 3-point range.
