MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Bentley completed a 3-1 weekend trip to Myrtle Beach with a 9-1 victory over Mercy on Sunday. The Falcons had 15 hits, led by shortstop
Tommy Bolton with three.
Batting leadoff, Bolton went 3-4 with a walk, one RBI and two runs scored.
Stan DeMartinis hit a two run homer in the 7
th inning, his third of the trip and fifth of the season.
Bentley fell behind 1-0 after Mercy scored in the 2
nd inning but they reeled off nine unanswered the rest of the way.
Jared Berardino had an RBI single in the 3
rd and
David VanderZouwen an RBI single in the 4
th to give Bentley the lead.
Nick Pappas had a sacrifice fly in the 5
th to make it 3-1 before DeMartinis broke the game open with his homer in the 7
th.
Ryan Glupe started and earned the win with five innings. He struck out four and scattered three hits.
Joey Sangiuolo and
Keegan Antelman pitched three innings and one inning or scoreless relief respectively to close out the game.
Bentley (5-2) will next play on March 1 against Post University.
