WALTHAM, Mass. –
Ryan Mansfield scored the game-winner for the second straight contest and
Connor Hasley recorded his sixth shutout of the season as Bentley earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Robert Morris on Friday night.
Mansfield scored the night's only goal at 10:21 of the third period to break a scoreless tie and give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. He scored the game-winner in Tuesday's win over Army West Point.
Hasley made 19 saves for the shutout to add to his program record totals of six in a season and nine in a career.
The Falcons also set a new team record for shutouts in a single-season with six. They broke the previous record of five from last season.
The goal came after
Nick Bochen dug the puck out along the boards after it slid out of Bentley's offensive zone. Bochen spotted Mansfield as he was about to reenter the offensive zone with space down the left wing. Mansfield skated to the left faceoff circle and fired a shot to the far post to beat RMU goalie Dawson Smith for a 1-0 lead.
After the goal Bentley couldn't convert on a five-minute major, that also included a 5-on-3, and the game stayed 1-0 after the major penalty expired with 4:39 to go.
RMU pulled Smith for an extra attacker with 1:13 remaining but the Falcons allowed just one shot to secure the 1-0 win.
Bentley (15-12-2, 13-7-1) will go for the series sweep on Saturday at 6:00 PM
