WALTHAM, Mass. –
Arlo Merritt and
Ethan Leyh both scored two goals as Bentley finished off a sweep of Robert Morris with a 6-0 victory on Saturday night.
Combined with Tuesday's win over Army West Point, the Falcons completed a 3-0 week at home and outscored their opponents 12-2.
Connor Hasley made 28 saves for his second straight shutout and seventh this season. It's the second time this season Hasley and the Falcons have had consecutive shutouts in a weekend.
Bentley jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 3:35 of the first period on a goal by Merritt.
Ryan Mansfield had the assist after he shook free from an RMU defender behind the net and fed Merritt out in front for a quick finish.
The Falcons then scored three times in the second period. Leyh scored two straight, both on the power play, at 6:21 and 15:00.
The first goal was from the slot above the faceoff circles. The second goal came after a shot by
Nick Bochen was blocked and
Stephen Castagna redirected the rebound to Leyh who fired a quick shot from below the dots.
Bochen made it 4-0 at 18:33 with his seventh goal of the season.
Merritt scored his second goal of the night, unassisted, at 7:17 of the third period after he jumped on a loose puck in the offensive zone and scored off a low shot to the stick side.
Mansfield then capped a big week with a goal at 13:13, his eighth of the season and fourth in three games.
The Falcons improved to 16-12-2 overall and 14-7-1 in the AHA with the win. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Canisius.
