Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FLA. – Bentley defeated Findlay and fell to Minnesota-Duluth on the second day of its Florida trip on Monday.
The Falcons won their first game of the day, 4-3 over Findlay, which competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Jess Morrison went 3-3 and freshman
Bella Burke went 2-3 with two RBI.
Riley Piromalli tossed her second straight complete game victory to begin the season. She struck out seven and scattered six hits over seven innings.
Findlay took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3
rd inning, but in the bottom of the 3
rd the Falcons tied it on an RBI single by
Hailey Feiler and sacrifice bunt by
Katie Welch.
Burke delivered the big hit in the 5
th inning with a two-run triple that scored Morrison and
Carly DiMento to make it 4-2.
Piromalli got the final six outs to secure the win.
The Falcons dropped their second game of the day, against Minnesota-Duluth 11-1.
The Bulldogs, out of the Northern Sun Conference, improved to 18-7 on the season.
Ava Lanza had an RBI single for the Falcons in the 3
rd inning, but Duluth's starting pitcher Maddy Walsh otherwise limited Bentley in 5.2 innings of work.
Bentley (2-2) is back at it on Tuesday when they take on Wayne State at 9:00 AM and Bemidji at 11:30 am.
