Sencaj ties school record with three home runs; Bentley beats Georgian Court, 26-12

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Brendan Sencaj tied a school record by clubbing three home runs in a game to lead the Bentley baseball team to a 26-12 thumping of Georgian Court Tuesday afternoon. The game was played at Lynn University.

It would have been difficult to foresee a Bentley blowout win when Georgian Court took a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the Falcons answered right back with nine runs in the home half of the opening frame.

Sencaj provided three of those nine runs. He hit a two-run homer and an RBI triple in the opening stanza.

The very next inning, Sencaj belted his second grand slam of the season, pushing Bentley's lead to 15-8. The sophomore added another two-run shot in the seventh inning to make it a 22-12 game.

In all, Sencaj went 4-for-7 at the plate, scored four times, and drove in nine runs. The performance put him atop the Northeast-10 leaderboard for RBI (27) this season. His six home runs are tied for the second most in the conference.

Jimmy Mitchell scored a game-high five runs, touching home for each time that he reached base. Mitchell finished the game 3-for-4 with two walks, and the sophomore belted his first career home run in the fifth inning.

Patrick Purcell was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, and he drew a walk to reach base six times in the game. Purcell scored four times.

Senior Rene Nunez (3-for-5) had the first three-hit game of his Bentley career, driving in a career-high three runs.

The 26 runs are the most by a Bentley team since a 33-8 win at American International April 23, 2024.

The Falcons conclude their spring break trip at Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday, March 12, at 6 p.m.
