Box Score 2 GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Bentley split a non-conference doubleheader with Adelphi on Saturday with a 4-1 win and a 5-4 defeat in extra innings.
In the Falcons victory in the first game,
Riley Piromalli tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts. She allowed just five hits in seven innings of work.
Jordan Krause,
Kim Saunders and
Bella Burke powered the offense. Krause went 3-4 with one RBI and Saunders and Burke each had two hits. Saunders drove in two and Burke one.
The Falcons plated two runs in the first inning. Krause doubled in Burke and Saunders doubled in Krause for a 2-0 lead. In the second frame, Burke doubled to center to score
Carly DiMento to make it 3-0.
Piromalli did the rest as Adelphi could only musted an unearned run in the 5
th inning. She retired the side the 7
th inning to close out the victory.
In the second game with Bentley trailing 3-0 in the top of the 7
th Krause hit a dramatic grand slam to give the visitors a 4-3 lead. She drove in Burke, DiMento and
Ava Lanza.
Adelphi though tied the game in the bottom of the 7
th with a solo homer by Meghan Fisher, then won it with a single to center Courtney Wengryn.
Bentley continues its road trip on Sunday at Caldwell.
