Bentley baseball makes history with 30th win of 2025

WALTHAM, Mass. – They made history… again. The Bentley baseball team captured its 30th win over the season with a 10-8 non-conference victory over American International Wednesday afternoon. The 2025 Falcons surpass last year's team, which totaled what was then a program-record 29 wins.

The Falcons have 13 of their last 15 games, and they take a 30-14 record into Friday's Senior Day games against St. Michael's.

Bentley starting pitcher Marc Cedrone earned the historic victory after working six innings. Cedrone held the Yellow Jackets off the board through the first five innings, but AIC rallied for five runs in the sixth. Still, Cedrone and the Falcons got out of the sixth with an 8-5 lead.

The Falcons' bats got going in the in the third inning – the second time through the batting order. David VanderZouwen led off with a double, and he moved up a base on a wild pitch. Brendan Sencaj switched places with VanderZouwen by belting a triple for the game's first run.

After a walk to Stan DeMartinis III, Jared Berardino hit a single to bring in Sencaj. Curt Heath reached on a throwing error by the shortstop as DeMartinis came in to score, and Jake MayDak lifted a sacrifice fly to score Berardino for a 4-0 lead.

Bentley  added three more runs in the fourth inning, two of which were on a double hit by Berardino. Nick Pappas hit an RBI triple in the sixth inning, and he came in to score a wild pitch.

Sencaj, Pappas, Berardino, and Patrick Purcell each collected two hits in the win.
