WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley combined for 25 runs and 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Saint Michael's on Senior Day by scores of 14-9 and 11-4.
In the game one win,
Nick Pappas drove in four runs and
Jared Berardino went 3-4 with two RBI as Bentley won the first game over the Purple Knights 14-9.
Bentley fell behind 2-0 in the top of the third but exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third to take command. Pappas had a two-run double and Berardino a two-run single in the inning.
Jimmy Mitchell and
Tommy Bolton both had RBIs in the 5
th inning to give Bentley an 8-2 lead.
Bentley then tacked on six more runs in the 8
th inning. Pappas had a two-run single as part of the inning.
Starting pitcher
Pat Heber went six innings and struck out seven to earn his fifth win of the season.
In game two,
Brendan Sencaj went 3-4 with two RBI.
Stan DeMartinis III also drove in two runs and
Curt Heath went 2-3.
Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the 4
th the Falcons piled on six runs. Pappas doubled in
David VanderZouwen to make it 4-2 and one batter later DeMartinis III singled to left to score Sencaj and Pappas.
Sencaj tripled in the eighth inning to score
Tommy Goonan for the 11
th and final run of the game.
Bentley improved to 32-14 and 18-6 NE10 with the two wins.
