WALTHAM, Mass. – The three-day, 54-hole NCAA Division II Men's Golf Atlantic/East Regional will get underway Thursday morning at the Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, Pa. with seniors
Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) and
Chris Huban (Cohoes, N.Y./Albany Academy) representing Bentley University.
In the opening round, Huban will tee off at 9:10 am, and Desjardins' tee time is set for 10 am.
Two of four student-athletes from the East Region selected to compete as individuals, Desjardins and Huban led the Falcons in stroke average this season. Desjardins will enter the regional with a 74.8 norm and Huban follows at 75.5.
Both played on the Whispering Woods course a couple weeks ago during a regional preview tournament. Huban tied for 39
th among a field of 120 with an 80-74-154 and Desjardins tied for 48
th with a 77-78-155.
Both players competed in the NCAA regional a year ago with Desjardins having an outstanding tournament. He tied for ninth with a 76-69-74-219 and Huban tied for 73rd with a 76-83-84-243.
Bentley has been represented at the Atlantic/East Super Regional annually since 2011, with the exception of the 2020 when it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two golfers not with a team will advance to the finals. The championships run from May 19-23 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
