WALTHAM, Mass. – Goals in the second half by Will McManus and
Finn Bride lifted Bentley to a 2-0 victory over #18 ranked Franklin Pierce on Wednesday.
Bride gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the 58
th minute and McManus' goal in the 85
th minute sealed the victory.
Bentley limited the Ravens to just two shots on goal.
Bride's goal came off a corner kick that was sent in by
Antonio Santos. Bride found some space in the six-yard box, boxed out an FPU defender and headed the corner kick into the far post for a 1-0 lead.
McManus' goal was started by a goal kick by
Cam Hall, who booted his kick down the field and was flicked on by
Daimon Pollard. McManus gained possession and outran the Ravens defense to get off a shot from about 12 yards that beat the FPU goalie to the near post. That gave Bentley a 2-0 lead with just over five minutes left.
The win was Bentley's first over Franklin Pierce since 2019.
The Falcons (2-0) are back in action on Saturday when they host Holy Family.
