DENVER, Colo. – The final day of the Colorado Premier Challenge saw the No. 21 Bentley volleyball team get its first-ever win in the elite tournament when the Falcons topped Lewis in three sets. Later in the day, Bentley was swept by the No. 2 ranked team in the nation – Angelo State.
Bentley 3, Lewis 1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15)
After dropping the first set, Bentley stormed back to win three consecutive sets in its victory of Lewis.
Sophia Poehlein recorded a team-high 13 kills, marking her fourth consecutive match with 10+ kills. Freshman
Katelyn Rutledge put away 10 kills, making it her third consecutive match with 10+ kills.
Tory Vitko amassed 41 assists, her second-best total this season. She had 43 assists against No. 5 West Texas A&M Friday.
Sasha Luzina finished with 13 digs, and
Lauren Hallas added 12.
The Falcons totaled 14 service aces, led by
Elizabeth Blinn with a season-high of five.
Bentley held Lewis to a .058 attack percentage in the win.
Bentley 0, Angelo State 3 (25-17, 25-20, 25-21)
Angelo State was Bentley's fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the young season, and the nation's second-best ranked team swept the Falcons.
Tory Vitko had 21 assists, while
Elizabeth Blinn posted three solo blocks and three aces.
Lauren Hallas (11) and
Sasha Luzina (10) put up double-digit digs.
Bentley returns to the east coast for a non-conference match at Molloy Friday, Sept. 19.
