SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophia Poehlein had a match-high 15 kills, and
Elizabeth Blinn led all players in blocks with nine as the Bentley volleyball beat Molloy in three sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-22) in the first day of the International Volleyball Hall of Fame East Region Clash hosted by American International Friday.
Poehlein's 15 kills are her most since the first match of the season, when she put away 17 kills against East Stroudsburg. Blinn's nine blocks stand as her second-best total this season. She had 10 blocks against No. 12 Nebraska-Kearney. Blinn improves her Northeast 10 blocks-per-set figure to 1.73 this season.
In addition to Blinn's prowess at the end,
Erica Borzone totaled a career-high 20 digs to help hold Molloy to a .102 attack percentage. On the flip side, the Falcons hit .267 – their second best mark this season.
Bentley continues the East Region Clash Saturday, Sept. 20. The Falcons take on Bridgeport at 9 a.m., and battle host AIC at 2 p.m.
