WALTHAM, Mass. – Goals by
Layla Conway and
Gracie Moore and six saves by
Annie Lorenz propelled Bentley field hockey to a 2-1 home win over Assumption on Wednesday night.
The Falcons fell behind just 2:28 into the game on a goal by Assumption's Daisy Stone but from that point shut down the visitors from Worcester.
Conway tied the game just over five minutes later, with an assist by Moore.
Moore then scored herself 5:48 into the third quarter to put Bentley in front.
The first goal by Conway came in transition as Moore pushed the ball on Assumption's cage. She then shuffled a pass over to Conway who lifted a shot over Assumption's keeper for the goal.
Early in the second half a give-and-go by Moore and
McKenzie Carey led to Moore scoring her first goal of the season for a 2-1 lead.
Lorenz made two saves the rest of the way as Bentley secured the victory.
They will look to make it two in a row on Friday when they host Molloy for the first NE10 game of the season.
