ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Two goals in the second half, both by freshmen, gave the Bentley women's soccer team a 2-1 opening day win at Molloy, the preseason favorites in the East Coast Conference.
The Falcons fell behind 1-0 on a 50
th minute goal by Mikaela Barriga.
But goals by freshmen
Annie Vigue in the 65
th minute and
Tilly Fitzgibbons in the 87
th minute saw Bentley rally to earn the win.
Vigue's goal was assisted by
Emily Ojeikere to tie the score in the 65
th minute.
Fitzgibbons then scored the winner with just 3:40 left on the clock.
Olivia Matthews, another first year player, had the assist.
Goalkeeper
Holly DiPalo made six saves to earn the win.
Bentley will look to make it a 2-0 start to the season on Saturday when they take on Wilmington University on Molloy's campus.
