WALTHAM, Mass. – Niya Morgen led all players in scoring with 18 points as the No. 24 Bentley women's basketball team beat Franklin Pierce, 72-43, in a Northeast 10 game in Waltham Saturday afternoon.
Morgen shot 6-for-9 from the floor, and 2-for-4 from 3-point range for Bentley (9-2, 5-0 NE10). She made four of her five free-throw attempts.
Kayana Armbrister scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the winning effort.
The 29-point victory over Franklin Pierce (1-13, 0-5 NE10) marks the Falcons' second largest margin of victory this season. Bentley beat Georgian Court earlier this season by a score of 86-50 (Nov. 16).
The Falcons were in command from the start against the Ravens, holding a 21-9 lead through the game's first 10 minutes. Bentley's halftime lead was 42-23.
The Falcons dominated on the boards overall, 41-24, and their defense held Franklin Pierce to 34.0-percent shooting from the floor. Bentley scored 13 fastbreak points, while the Ravens scored just one.
Bentley has another home conference game on the docket when it hosts American International Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 p.m.
