WALTHAM, Mass. –
Makenzie Dutch scored a second quarter goal but #9 Saint Anselm scored two straight of their own to defeat Bentley 2-1 in a hard-fought game between Northeast 10 rivals on Saturday afternoon.
It was the NE10 opener for both squads played on a warm, sunny afternoon in Waltham.
Dutch's first goal of the season, one minute into the second quarter, gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Madeline Krepelka had the assist after her pass towards the cage was tipped-in and redirected by Dutch.
The Hawks tied the game with 2:22 remaining in the half on a goal by Sophie Smith.
Just after halftime, Leila Haertel gave the visitors the lead at 2-1. That was the final goal of the afternoon for both teams.
