WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley saw its undefeated start to its Atlantic Hockey schedule snapped on Friday night with a 2-0 defeat at Holy Cross.
Bentley held a 32-22 edge in shots but Crusaders goalie Danick Leroux turned away each one.
The Falcons got off to a slow start with Holy Cross outshooting them 10-3 in the opening period, and taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by David Hymovitch at the 8:50 mark.
The ice began to tilt in Bentley's favor in the second period and they outshot Holy Cross 14-10. But Holy Cross lit the lamp late the period off the stick of Owen Kim to take a 2-0 lead.
Bentley controlled the ice even more in the third period and had a 15-2 edge in shots but they were unable to put one past Leroux.
The series now shifts to Waltham for the second game on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
