WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley continued to roll with a 4-2 road win at Holy Cross on Friday night at the Hart Center.
The Falcons extended their unbeaten streak to six games (3-0-3) and are 5-1-2 in the last eight away games.
Four different players scored and
Jake Black had three assists to extend his points streak to 10 straight games.
Sophomore goalie
Nicholas Bevilacqua made 33 saves to earn the win.
Leading 2-1 after two periods, sophomore defenseman
David Helledy scored 41 seconds into the third period on a two-on-one break into the offensive zone. Helledy pinpointed his shot to the far post for the goal from the left wing.
Bentley held the two goal lead for most of the period, but Holy Cross made it interesting late with a 6-on-4 goal by Noah Eyre with 1:51 remaining.
Holy Cross' net remained empty after the goal and Bevilacqua made three saves. With 35 seconds left,
Owen Goodbrand won a defensive zone faceoff which led to
Alec Leonard scoring on a shot that went the entire length of the ice to seal the win.
After a scoreless first period, Bentley jumped in front 2-0 in the second period with goals by
Kellan Hjartarson and
Oskar Bakkevig at the 5:56 and 7:49 marks.
Bentley improved to 15-7-5 overall and 13-2-4 in Atlantic Hockey. These teams will play on Saturday at Bentley Arena with a 6:00 pm start time.
