WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley saw its six-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 4-1 defeat at home to Holy Cross on Saturday night.
Holy Cross jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Quinn McCall 1:53 into the game. They added to their lead at the 8:46 mark on a goal by Devin Phillips.
Late in the second period, it became 3-0 after a goal by Connor Welsh with 3:01 left in the period.
The three-goal deficit proved too much to ultimately overcome despite a strong third period and an early goal by
Stephen Castagna.
Just 28 seconds into the period, Castagna scored his ninth goal of the season, with
Kellan Hjartarson on the assist.
Bentley then had a five minute major power play that started with 11:57 remaining in the game. But Holy Cross denied the Falcons power play and kept it a 3-1 game.
Bentley outshot the Crusaders 13-2 over the final 20 minutes. For the game, the Falcons doubled up Holy Cross in shots at 30-15.
Despite the defeat Bentley won the season series over Holy Cross 2-1-1.
