BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Bentley baseball team lost at Lynn, 11-3, Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons (7-5) scored two of their runs in the first inning.
Tommy Bolton led off with a walk, and two batters later
Nick Pappas hit a single. With runners on first and second,
Stan DeMartinis III grounded into a fielder's choice, but Lynn (9-11) committed an error that allowed Bolton to score.
Lynn committed another error off the bat of
Brendan Sencaj, as a bad throw by the third baseman allowed DeMartinis to touch home plate. Bentley's 2-0 lead was brief, however. Lynn scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Falcons reclaimed the lead, 3-2, when
Jimmy Mitchell lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Sencaj in the top of the fourth inning. Once again, Lynn had an immediate answer. This time, the Fighting Knights rallied for five runs in the home half of the fourth.
Sencaj and Berardino each hit a double in the game. Bolton, Mitchell, and
Brian Hersh each collected one hit and one walk.
Bentley's spring break trip in Florida concludes at Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday, March 11. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
