BOCA RATON, Fla. – Ryan Glupe tossed a gem, and a couple of Falcons homered during Bentley's 12-4 win over Molloy Monday.
Glupe struck out a career-high nine batters while throwing a career-best 7.1 innings. He allowed only two earned runs on four hits and a walk.
Stan DeMartinis III belted a solo home run in the fifth inning, matching teammate
Jared Berardino for the Northeast 10 lead in homers (6).
Brendan Sencaj also hit a solo shot in the fifth inning – his third of the season.
DeMartinis and Sencaj drove in the game's first runs in the first inning.
Tommy Bolton drew a leadoff walk, and he moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Berardino and
Nick Pappas both drew a walk to load the bases, and then DeMartinis lifted a sacrifice fly to score Bolton. Sencaj promptly followed by delivering an RBI double.
David VanderZouwen and Bolton both had RBI singles in the fourth inning, increasing Bentley's lead to 4-0. That same duo sparked a four-run sixth inning. They both reached base with nobody out, and then successfully executed a double steal. Berardino drew a walk to load the bases, and Pappas forced in a run by earning a free pass. Two batters later, Bolton came in score on a balk.
A sac fly by Sencaj allowed Berardino to score, and the sixth-inning rally was capped off with an RBI single by
Curt Heath.
Sencaj, Heath, and VanderZouwen collected two hits each in the win. Bolton scored three times.
The Falcons' next game is at Lynn Tuesday, March 10, at 3 p.m.
