No. 18/24 Bentley outscores Saint Michael's, 39-4, in Saturday's doubleheader

WALTHAM, Mass. – Thirty-nine runs, 37 hits, three homers, and two wins. The No. 18/24 Bentley baseball team put on a show during its doubleheader wins against Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon.

Stan DeMartinis III collected three hits and drove in four runs, while Pat Heber struck out six batters in six innings to earn his fourth win of the season.

DeMartinis went 3-for-5 at the plate, marking his sixth game this season with at least three hits. He hit a two-run double in the fifth inning, and he had another two-run double in the seventh inning.

Nick Pappas belted a solo home run in the seventh inning. It was his sixth homer of the season. Like DeMartinis, Pappas scored four times. Pappas, Tommy Bolton, Jared Berardino, and Curt Heath each had two hits in the win.

Freshman Jackson Wilburn came away with his first-career collegiate hit. His single to centerfield scored two runs in the eighth inning.

Zach Eigenbrod struck out 12 batters through six innings, while Jared Berardino and Brendan Sencaj both cleared the outfield fences in the second game Saturday.

After tying a program record with 15 strikeouts against Southern Connecticut last week  (April 3), Eigenbrod has 27 strikeouts in his last two starts (13.0 IP).

Sencaj's eighth homer of the season was a three-run shot in the second inning. Berardino's 12th homer of the season also drove in three runs, which came in the third inning.
Berardino drove in six runs during Saturday's second game, marking his most RBI has a Falcon.  

Curt Heath went 3-for-3 in the win, good for his fifth three-hit game of the season. He had an RBI double in the first inning, and a two-run single in the fourth.

Sencaj went 3-for-5 for his fourth game with at least three hits this season. Jake Maydak finished the game 3-for-4 for his second three-hit game of the season.

Maydak, Sencaj, and Stan DeMartinis III each scored three times.

Freshman Andrew Daley hit a single to left field in the sixth inning for his first-career collegiate hit.

Bentley and Saint Michael's have two more games Sunday, April 12, starting at 12 p.m.
