WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior pitcher
Ryan Glupe made his best start of the season, and a couple of Falcons hit home runs to lead the No. 16 Bentley baseball team to a 12-1 win at Assumption Tuesday.
Glupe allowed just one earned run through seven innings, striking out seven batters in the process. He improved his season record to 2-1.
The Falcons (30-11, 22-6 NE10) jumped all over Assumption (10-28, 6-22 NE10) in the first inning, plating nine runs in the opening stanza.
Nick Pappas launched a three-run homer during the big rally, and
Brendan Sencaj hit a solo home run. It was Pappas' ninth long ball of the season, and Sencaj's 11
th.
Pappas also hit an RBI single in the first. Bentley sent 13 batters to the plate before committing its third out.
Tommy Bolton scored three runs in all after reaching base three times in the game. His day included a two-run double in the first inning.
Nick Pappas finished the day 3-for-5 at the plate, raising his season batting average to .379. He ranks ninth in the Northeast 10 for hitting. Â
Benley formally claimed its second consecutive 30-win season. Last year's team set a program record with 33 wins. This year's team has eight games left in the regular season.
The Falcons next prepare for four games at Saint Anselm, April 25-26.
