Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Trio of goal scorers lead #19 Bentley to 3-1 win over Caldwell

WALTHAM, Mass. – Antonio Di Gaudio, Matt McAullife and Logan Veloria scored goals to lead #19 ranked Bentley men's soccer to a 3-1 win over Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons finished their season opening tournament at home with a win and a tie after a 1-1 draw with Georgian Court on Thursday.

Bentley took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on Di Gaudio's goal, his first as a Falcon for the grad transfer.

The goal came on a free kick from 30 yards out and was blasted in off the cross bar. The free kick was preceded by a red card on Caldwell's Nick Bustios for denying Veloria a clear goal scoring chance after he broke free behind the Cougars backline.

In the 32nd minute McAuliffe scored his first career goal with a blistering shot from just inside the penalty area. The ball was worked in from the left wing, starting with Michael Gouvin and then to Lucas Montiero in the center of the field. Montiero passed over to McAuliffe on the right side of the penalty area for his shot on goal.

Caldwell made it interesting with a 62nd minute goal by Roy Torjman to cut Bentley's lead to 2-1.

But Veloria sealed the win for Bentley with his goal in the 88th minute with a shot from the top of the penalty area to the right corner of the net, assisted by Zach Spitznagle.

Bentley ended the game with a 19-5 edge in total shots.

The Falcons now embark on a five-game road trip, starting next Saturday at Post University.
