WALTHAM, Mass. – This week the Bentley hockey team named seniors Garrett Horsager and Colton Cameron as the team's assistant captains for the 2026-27 season. The duo joins senior captain Kellan Hjartarson as the top leaders for this year's squad.

Hjartarson was named team captain during the team banquet following the 2025-26 season.

Bentley head coach Andy Jones, who led the Falcons to back-to-back Atlantic Hockey America titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, has nothing but praise, admiration, and respect for Cameron and Horsager.

"Colton is beloved in our room, and he has earned that place," said Jones "For three seasons, he has been a top student and a vital part of the program's steady growth. He is curious, willing, humble, and tough. He does the work in front of him, embraces difficult things, and gives more to his teammates than he asks for himself. In more than twenty years of coaching, I have seen few players who inspire people simply by the way they carry themselves."

Similarly to Cameron, Horsager has been integral for the program's rapid growth.

"In the summer of 2023, Garrett believed in us when few others did," said Jones. "Since then, he has given everything he has to helping this program grow and to becoming a better player. His intensity is consistent, and has helped raise our competitive standard. Most importantly, watching him mature into a more resilient person and a more supportive teammate has been one of the great privileges of my career. He has learned that growth is earned through the days when things are difficult, and we believe his best days are still ahead of him."

Jones is confident that this year's player leadership will continue to uphold the program's high standards.

"Along with Kellan, Colton and Garrett represent the very best of what we want this program to be. They have helped establish an identity - not just in how we play, but in how we work, compete, and treat one another. They have helped build something bigger than themselves. We are proud of what they have accomplished, but even more proud of the people they have become. They understand that the work is never finished, that standards are maintained one day at a time, and that leadership is measured by what you give when no one is asking. We look forward to the season ahead and to seeing them lead the way."

The 2026-27 begins with consecutive games in Bentley Arena. The Falcons host Vermont Oct. 9, and Northeastern visits Waltham Oct. 10.
