NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Steve Rizzuto hit a clutch home run, and Eddy Beauregard had a three-hit game as the Bentley baseball team won both ends of a doubleheader at New Haven Sunday afternoon.

Bentley 3, New Haven 2 (11 inn.)

Rizzuto's 11^th inning home run propelled Bentley to a 3-2 win over the Chargers in the first game Sunday. With two outs on the top of the 11^th, Rizzuto belted a solo home run on a 3-1 pitch. It was his sixth home run of the season.

Bentley starting pitcher Ryan Glupe allowed only one earned run in his six innings on the mound. He struck out five and allowed just two walks. Connor Gileau worked four innings out of the bullpen without yielding an earned run. Jayden Longdin earned a one-inning save.

The Falcons entered the eighth inning in a 1-0 deficit, but Cory Bright crushed a two-run home to give Bentley a one-run lead. Beauregard led off the frame with a single, and he touched home plate on Bright's home run that came on a full count.

Bentley 5, New Haven (7 inn.)

Beauregard hit his fourth home run of the season as part of his three-hit game to lead the Falcons to a 5-4 win in the second game against New Haven.

Beauregard belted a solo shot down the left-field line to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Tim Zupkus and Brian Lindsay followed the home run with consecutive singles, and Tommy Bolton came through with a base hit that scored Zupkus.

The Chargers rallied to take a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning, but Bentley answered right back in the top of the sixth. Beauregard hit a one-out single and Zupkus followed by drawing a walk. Both runners move up a base when Lindsay grounded out, but the Falcons were down to their last out in the frame.

Bolton came through in the clutch, smacking a two-run single to right field. Bolton then moved into scoring position on a passed ball, and he came in to score on a single by Nick Pappas.

Steve Hardiman opened the game on the mound with three shutout innings. Keegan Antelman earned the win by getting two outs out of the bullpen, and Gabe White shut the door on the Chargers with a two-inning save.

Beauregard finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. Bolton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Pappas had a multi-hit game by finishing 2-for-4.

The Falcons have a single game at American International Tuesday, April 23, before returning home to host Assumption Friday, April 26.
