WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's
Mike Hill was named the
East Region Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the ABCA announced this week. He is the first East Region Coach of the Year in Bentley baseball history.
In just his fourth year at the helm of the Bentley baseball program, Hill led the Falcons to their first ever trip to the NCAA DII World Series. Bentley won the Northeast 10 crown for the first time in program history, qualifying for the NCAA Championship for the first time.
The Falcons earned the #1 seed for the NCAA East Regional. Bentley won games against Goldey-Beacom and Wilmington (Del.) to advance to the NCAA Super Regional, which again the Falcons hosted. Bentley won two out of three games against #2 seed Molloy to book a ticket to Cary, N.C. for the NCAA DII World Series. Â
The Falcons finished the 2026 season with a 44-17 record, far exceeding the program record for wins in a season (33, 2025). Over the course the historic 2026 campaign, Bentley was ranked top-10 in the nation for three weeks by the ABCA.
Bentley totaled 11 All-NE10 honors in 2026, including six All-NE10 First Team recipients:
Jared Berardino,
Stan DeMartinis III,
Curt Heath,
Pat Heber,
Nick Pappas,
Brendan Sencaj. Those same six Falcons also earned All-Region honors from various associations.
DeMartinis, Pappas, and Sencaj ultimately earned All-America Third Team honors from the ABCA. Sencaj was an All-America selection by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association.
