Falcons meet with best-selling author James Clear

Several months after completing the most successful season in program history, the Bentley baseball team met with James Clear, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Atomic Habits. The virtual meeting via Zoom was part of Bentley Athletics' Be A Force: Guest Speaker Series. Members from several other Bentley varsity teams joined the baseball team to hear from Clear.

Atomic Habits has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Clear is frequently in high demand as a guest speaker, especially with Fortune 500 companies.

The Bentley baseball program started to build repeatable positive habits several years ago. In 2024, the Falcons won a program-best 29 games. A year later, Bentley won 33 games. In the spring of 2026, Bentley won 44 games while capturing the program's first Northeast 10 Championship, first NCAA East Regional title, and first appearance in the NCAA DII College World Series.

What Falcons are saying:

"Thank you, James Clear, for an outstanding session with our baseball team. Your thoughts on habits, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned perfectly with the culture we strive to build. Our players left challenged, motivated, and excited to put your lessons into practice. It truly was an honor and a privilege."
"I appreciated how James talked about some of the more granular topics, going beyond the surface of commonly preached things such as discipline and resiliency. He got into mindfulness, being consistent (especially when it is hard), and building daily habits and routines. These focuses I think create sustainable and repeatable success rather than short spurts of motivation."
"I really enjoyed our conversation with James Clear. I thought he was extremely knowledgeable in the field of mental toughness and working hard to get at least 1% better every day. One of the biggest talking points I took away from this meeting was focusing on one thing every day to improve at. If you get better at one thing every day, or even every week, then eventually you will reach your career and life goals down the road."
"I think the James Clear session was one of the most insightful and interesting speakers we've have had for Bentley student-athletes. I really liked his approach when it came to working towards goals, starting – and maintaining - good habits. I also enjoyed hearing his perspective on dealing with adversity and situations where the work does not seem like it's paying off.
