WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley and Franklin Pierce meet on Saturday in Waltham with the Northeast 10 Men's Soccer Championship on the line. The two nationally ranked teams kickoff at 1:00 pm.
Bentley (11-1-4), the #1 seed and regular season champions, advanced to the finals with a penalty kick shootout win over Adelphi in the semifinals on Wednesday after the teams tied 1-1. They won the shootout 4-2 with
Wynn Hammond delivering the winning goal in the fifth round.
Franklin Pierce (11-3-3), the #3 seed, advanced with a 3-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire in the semis. They defeated Saint Michael's 2-0 in the first round.
The Falcons are ranked 11
th in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll and they are on a 13-match unbeaten streak at 9-0-4. This is their first time in the finals since 2017. They will be looking for the program's first NE10 playoff championship since 1994. Bentley won three in a row from 1992-94.
The Ravens have won the playoff championship six times, including three in a row from 2021-23.
Saturday's winner earns the NE10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In the latest NCAA Super Region 1 rankings, Bentley was second and FPU fourth. The Selection Show is on Monday at 7:00 pm.
