Bentley Remembers Hall of Famer Jack Pini ’75

WALTHAM, Mass. – John A. "Jack" Pini Jr., a charter inductee into the Bentley University Hall of Fame and a catcher for the Falcons from 1972-75, passed away Saturday, June 14, surrounded by family.
 
Pini, a 1975 Bentley graduate, was the Falcons' Most Valuable Player and team captain as a senior and was the team's Most Improved Player in 1973. He was presented with the prestigious Edward J. Powers Award, as Bentley's premier senior scholar-athlete, in 1975. In 1984, Pini was among the first six inductees into the Bentley Athletic Hall of Fame.
 
Pini, a native of Wellesley who resided in Ashland, gave back to his alma mater throughout his lifetime with his various roles including assistant baseball coach, co-head golf coach, chair of the annual Falcon Club Golf Tournament and working in the university's Development Office. He served as Managing Director – Principal Gifts and Strategic Initiatives, and co-founded the Bentley Executive Club for alumni and supporters.
 
His professional career also included many years at New England Financial. After retiring, Pini worked for the WooSox, blending his love for baseball with his ability to connect with people, and performed in a classic rock band. He was a longtime member of the Framingham Country Club.
 
Pini, 73, was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Murphy), for more than 50 years. He was a devoted and loving father of three daughters: Kristin Lomuto, Jacqueline Trotta and Ashley Pini.
 
A funeral service will be celebrated Sunday June 22nd at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00-1:30 PM prior to the service.
