WALTHAM, Mass. – The regular season has entered its final week and Bentley has two games upcoming as they jostle for playoff positioning.
The Falcons travel to Vermont on Wednesday to face Saint Michael's at 3:00 pm before they host Southern Connecticut on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the regular season finale.
Entering this week, Bentley is 3-3-1 in NE10 matches (5-5-3 overall) for 10 points. That has them in seventh place, but the standings are extremely tight. Just three points separate them from the second place AIC with 13 points.
The top-seven teams qualify for the NE10 playoffs, which begin on October 31 with the first round. The second, third and fourth seeds host a first round game and the number one seed receives a bye to the semifinals.
Last time out, the Falcons dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Saint Anselm on October 17, with the deciding goal coming on a free kick in the 61
st minute.
Bentley leads the all-time series over Saint Michael's 18-16-4, including a 4-1 home win last season. The Purple Knights are 2-9-3 going into Wednesday's game.
Bentley defeated Southern Connecticut 1-0 on the road last season. That win clinched the program's first NE10 regular season title since 1995. The Owls are 3-4-6 overall and 2-2-3 NE10 for nine points, which has them on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. They visit AIC on Wednesday before playing Bentley.
